I-Tran is run by Dennis Ritchie, who has over 28 years of experience in the trucking and transportation industry. He was previously employed by an extremely large motor carrier as the Vice President of Corporate Safety. In that position, Dennis was responsible for ensuring their company was in full compliance with the Federal Regulations (FMCSR’s). He also supervised over one hundred thousand drivers during his many years in this field and was in charge of training, qualifying, disciplining, and retaining those staff members.
Dennis is an expert in this industry at reviewing and suggesting improvements for any trucking related safety issues, including the following; refrigerated, inter modal, flatbed, dry, auto transport, short hauls as well as virtually any other type of commercial trucking transportation that is presently used in the US. He also has inspected and examined thousands of truck related accidents over his very long career attempting to understand what caused the crashes, and how they can be prevented in the future.
After attending Michigan State University and the North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI), he successfully passed the examinations that allowed him to become a Certified Director of Safety (CDS). In addition, Dennis has taught and administered many different types of conferences and seminars for quite a few state and national trucking associations.
He is currently a member of the National Committee of Motor Fleet Training and Certification, on the Board of Directors for the Professional Truck Driver Institute of America (PTDIA), American Trucking Associations, and is President of the Interstate Truckload Carriers Conference.
He once won the Claire C. Casey Jr. Safety Advocate Award for the contributions he made that helped improve our roads and made driving safer for everyone. The trucking industry is extremely competitive at the present time and with gasoline and diesel prices expected to remain extremely high in the near future, this type of business more than likely will never be able to produce the margins it once did for the owners of our nation’s commercial trucking fleets.
All businesses in this industry should be doing everything that they can in order to maintain their profitability and ensure their fleets are operating as safely and efficiently as possible. If you feel that your firm might be falling behind in these areas, please contact Dennis and inquire about his services as a Transportation Safety Expert.
